Early Adventist minister from Wisconsin who wrote the first substantial work on the Atonement (Advent Review Office, 1854). He accepted the seventh-day Sabbath from J. H. Waggoner in 1853, but later became a part of the “Messenger Party” departing from the church in 1858.
